How did you find out about and what made you choose the maritime sector?
I was working on land for an agency who had opportunities onboard Cruise Ships and they offered me the Assistant Cruise Director position. I jumped at the chance to do a job I loved whilst travelling the globe. I quickly fell in love with the maritime world and haven’t looked back.
Who has been the most important person to you in your maritime career so far?
My husband, Captain Nathan Mills. We jointly run Nathan Mills Marine - while I bring fresh ideas and enjoy developing our online marketing campaigns. Nathan is always inspiring me to think more broadly and engage with new people.
What have you found most challenging in your maritime career so far, and how did you address it?
Understanding the commercial maritime language has proved tricky. But as with anything, if you study it enough and ask questions you will get there in the end.
What does a typical day at work look like?
My job title is Company Director, but as we are a team of two there is a wide range of jobs to cover. My husband, Captain Nathan takes care of everything technical, whilst I look after the commercial side. So a typical day for me will include; looking after our accounts, building marketing plans and adverts, posting content to social media and generally keeping the good ship sailing!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Walking, Sailing , Horse Riding and old house renovating!
