About the Event

Ship operators are legally obliged to exchange vital information with shore authorities about cargoes, dangerous goods, crews, and vessel details when ships enter and leave ports.  Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen an acceleration of digital systems' adoption, which makes this topic very timely.

The IMO is conducting various work streams to ensure interoperability and harmonise data standards in multiple areas.  Therefore, customer-facing professionals need to understand and be able to articulate the main points in customer communications.

This Blue briefing will cover:

  • ships and ports exchanging voyage, estimated arrival time, and terminal availability information to reduce ship waiting times and port congestion
  • reporting requirements to support transmission, receipt and response of data required for the arrival, stay, and departure of ships, persons, and cargo
  • exchanging operational data for the just-in-time operation of vessels
